ASMR NFT
On 02-23-21, I minted my first ASMR NFTs on the Zora platform.

Briefly, by way of introduction, I’ve worked with ASMR since 2013 in many different capacities. I’ve also worked with blockchain, as co-CTO of music-streaming cooperative Resonate in 2018. I’m excited about this experiment, and it was a lot of fun to make these tracks and to mint my precious tokens!

ASMR Roleplay

This track features one of my favorite ASMR roleplay tropes, the classic “I Found You Passed Out In A Forest”. I remember coming across an ASMR video ~in this style~ very early in my work with ASMR and being totally floored. It inspired me to adopt a slightly more chaotic-evil persona in my whispers, from time to time.
Over the past several disorienting years, many anons have dreamt that they might be fortunate enough to pass out in a dark forest only to be rescued by a pathologically-whispering maiden/alien/monster/hunk with Misery-esque tendencies. Here, for the first time, I finally tip my fedora in the general direction of this fabulous and unsettling scenario.
The track features one of my most loved aspects of ASMR – the play between signal and noise. On most speakers, the track will read as a murmur, but with headphones, different voices become distinct, surrounding the listener with a barrage of creepy care.
Anon, you were running a fever and muttering about non-fungible tokens. What is a non-fungible token, anon? You shouldn’t eat a fungus if you don’t know what it is. What’s Vitalik? A dark forest is full of predators. You should have been more careful, anon!
HARD FORK [ASMR]
ASMR Ringtone

Given Ethereum’s forthcoming hard fork at block 12,244,000 in April 2021, and the conceptual HARD FORK represented by NFTs, this seemed an appropriate opening tone.
HARD FORK [ASMR] is released as a .wav for optimal quality, but it’s intended to become an NFT ringtone. I will provide any future owners with .mp3 and .m4a renders to enable its installation on Android and iOS.
The world of NFTs is sweetly chaotic, but after extensive searching, I’m going to hazard that this is the first NFT ringtone! (Please write me if I’m wrong!) I’m thrilled to be a first-mover in the NFT Ringtone Space!
The dominant vocals in this track were recorded and processed in July 2016, at the time of Ethereum’s first hard fork, for a show at ACUD in Berlin with rkss. Backing whispers were recorded in 2021.
This newest ringtone follows my project SHUSHTONES (2015-2017), which comprised several releases of ASMR ringtones. To celebrate my return to ringtones, I’m including some of my favorite SHUSHTONES below as .mp3s. On a personal note, these are the first tracks I’ve officially released since taking a long break from working with ASMR, or doing anything creative, between 2017 and 2020. I’m very fortunate to find ASMR, once again, to be a trusted guide as I navigate the dark forest in which I, too, awoke in the middle of my life!
